Search (Spotlight)#

Spotlight is the app-wide Search palette. You can find a node, jump to a page, or open a settings section without leaving the keyboard.

Press / or Shift+7 anywhere except while you are typing in a text field. Alt + Space opens or closes Search from anywhere, including inside text fields. On German keyboards, Shift+7 is the slash key. You can also use the search icon in the top bar, next to notifications.

One project for nodes#

Node search stays inside one project. Usually that is the project in your URL. If the address bar has no project (for example on Home or Settings), Search uses your last open project and shows a short note under the field. Jumping to pages or settings does not require a project.

Find nodes#

Results are ranked by relevance: word match first, and similar meaning when the query is long enough. Enter opens the highlighted row on the canvas.

You type Effect
logout Nodes whose title or text matches
type:req or #req Requirements only; #req logout searches requirements for “logout”
# at the end of the query Pick a node type from the list (Enter or Tab applies it)
status:draft Draft status only (suggestions while typing)
in:here or In ‹container› On the canvas, limit search to the open feature

Only words that start with # act as type filters (same rules as type: chips). Plain words like test stay search text. A word like canvas can still offer Go to Canvas under Go to.

Go to and settings#

Matching pages can appear under Go to while you search (for example settings or analytics). Two prefixes change the list:

Prefix You get
> Pages only, no node hits (> settings)
: Settings sections and named preferences only

With :, an empty query lists sections and hubs. :appearance or :dark mode opens the matching section. :mention opens the page for that preference. Workspace and project rows need an active project (URL or last open project). Search navigates to Settings; change values on that page.
